Consultants Are Overpaid And …
Consultants have a bad reputation. They tell you what you already know, give some recommendations and then leave you to get on with it. In the meantime, they bank a large cheque.
The way to overcome this is for you to make a commitment to implement what is recommended and to measure and test the effectiveness of what is proposed. This means you are guaranteed results and both companies benefit.
The European Commission, PENSIONSFORCE (NAPF), The British Pest Control Association and the stock-market training company, ILTB, are examples of clients who implement recommendations and then measure the results. This happens because there is willingness on both sides to understand the marketing and communication challenges and to find solutions.
Ask Yourself Some Questions
Effective marketing is about using a variety of communication tools at the same time but with slightly different emphasis on each. Before talking to us, ask yourself:
- Does your website help grow your business?
- How effective is the copy you write?
- How many communication channels do you use? Many or just a few?
- Do you focus on improving your strengths or your weaknesses?
- What delivers low cost/high impact results as opposed to high cost/low impact?
- Do you measure and test to discover what works?
- Is there any media in your communications mix?
- Do you distinguish between online and offline marketing tools?
- Is your marketing ‘budget’ driven or ‘target client’ driven?
- Do you decrease your marketing in difficult times?
Are You Different?
Every company is different, but all companies have similar marketing and communications goals. They want more clients and an increase in revenue. This is only achieved when they identify different marketing channels, decide where to prioritise and then implement.
Implementation is the hard part. It is where most companies fall down.
